“OUR NATION OWES A DEBT TO ITS FALLEN HEROES THAT WE CAN NEVER FULLY REPAY"

The 3rd Annual Louisville Honor Earned, Remembrance Owed (H.E.R.O.) Run/Walk/Ruck honors those who died in battle and those we lost at home to the psychological wounds of war. Join us on Saturday, June 1, 2024 for a day of camaraderie and connection. Proceeds will benefit our new charity partner USA Cares, a four-star rated charity providing financial assistance to post-9/11 Veterans and their families, as well as the University of Louisville's Salute to Service Scholarship Fund.

In its first two years, the Louisville H.E.R.O. Run/Walk/Ruck had over 650 participants and donated over $34,000 to help Kentuckiana Veterans and their families. Join us to support these two great charities, learn more about local Veteran organizations, and take home a unique finisher's medal.

The Louisville H.E.R.O. Run/Walk/Ruck is a family friendly event, and will once again take place at the University of Louisville Cardinal Track Stadium, 2125 South Floyd Street in Louisville. The route will leave the track and field stadium, take participants around the beautiful University of Louisville campus, and finish on the track.

Turkey Run Park
8703 Stout Rd
Louisville, KY US 40291

Description

WOOHOO!!!  We are so excited to be doing our run in the Parklands this year! There hasn't been a trail run in this park for years! Participants run five (timed) or three (not timed) miles through the beautiful trails of Turkey Run Park (Parklands of Floyd Fork)  to benefit Second Chances Wildlife Center. Second Chances is a nonprofit that provides Environmental Education programs to the Louisville area community. They also offer wildlife rehabilitation and safe release of injured and orphaned animals. Race proceeds and additional donations go back to saving our local wildlife. This pays for medicines, cleaning supplies, vet visits, formula, food, etc. Thank you for your support.

Runners receive a custom series medal, headband or buff. T-shirt and car seat covers (keep your sweat to yourself!) available to purchase the day of race. Runners have a chance to meet one of the Second Chances Animal Ambassadors!  Non-releasable Educational Animal Ambassadors have lifetime sanctuary at Second Chances. The course is a five miles of single track, wooded trail through beautiful Turkey Run. Elevation about 600.  Starting and ending by Brown Forman Silo, the course is great for beginners and veteran runners alike. There are some roots and rocks, mostly on the first mile. Door prizes and overall awards for top 3 male and female runners (KCRS gift certificates) . If the trails are too muddy to run due to rain, we will be on the paved path, which still makes for a lovely run.

Again this year, we have a fun little twist. We will have a few hidden bats along the course. If you find one, you can turn it in for a door prize. One per Person. Of course if your goal is strictly speed, just wave to the animals as you run past them. We will have other door prizes with a drawing.

Each participant will receive a special entry ticket  to the Columbia outlet store that otherwise is invitation only to shop.

Free chair massages between 9-11AM by The Zen Zone.
